Description
For sale is an exceptional, investment-grade Edwardian "Bear Stealing Honey" cast iron still bank, manufactured around 1907 by the renowned British foundry Sydenham & McOustra. This piece features their official design registration number 502036 crisply cast along the back foliage border.
Rare Factory Finish & Condition:
Crucially for collectors, this example features its original, factory-applied bronze-wash highlighted finish. Unlike common variants that were painted with heavy enamels, this premium library edition was issued with bare metal and metallic bronze highlights. There is zero evidence of historical paint in any crevice. It sports a pristine, beautifully aged, dark natural iron patina with gorgeous, authentic bronze highlights remaining on the raised casting details.
Structure:
Exceptionally crisp mold work highlighting the bear's fur and the textured bee skep. The casting lines are remarkably tight, flat, and flush. No chips, cracks, repairs, or modifications. Completely untouched "as is" condition.
