Description
For sale is a beautiful, authentic 1920s/1930s English-made "La Belle" mechanical screw-type tabletop nutcracker.
This functional vintage piece features a heavy-duty cast metal loop frame and a thick threaded spindle with a wide T-bar handle. Unlike flimsy modern alternatives, this powerful screw mechanism provides maximum mechanical advantage, making it highly sought after for effortlessly cracking tough shells—including hard native Australian macadamia nuts and walnuts.
The mechanism is securely mounted onto a stunning, lathe-turned solid oak pedestal bowl designed to catch shell fragments and dust. The base still retains its original green protective wool felt bottom lining to prevent scratching polished furniture. It is structurally sound, clean, and in perfect working condition with an excellent aged patina. Ideal as a functional kitchen display piece or a unique addition to an antique collection!
