Synopsis
What happens when you face your past? Can life ever be the same?

Emily has it all; a successful career, enviable lifestyle, her own flat in London. Exactly the way she wants it.

Then a call from her father in Australia threatens everything - her Mother is dying. Emily reluctantly returns to her family in Melbourne she’s avoided for twenty years. Her protected life unravels as she confronts her unhappy childhood and her bullying father, and reconnects with brother Ben who struggles with his own demons.

Memories and long held secrets surface, and Emily questions her assumptions about her family and even herself. Defences she once depended on fall apart. Emily tries to support Ben as he spirals downwards but there are devastating consequences.

This is an intense story about finding courage and strength in dark places. How the long fingers of grief, emotional abuse and loss reach into the lives of everyone involved. About how dealing with a past you’d rather forget can bring release.

About the Author
Gwyneth lives in Melbourne’s inner west. She came to Australia as an English migrant arriving on one of the last welcomed and paid-for boats. From a young age, writing has been a way for Gwyneth to explore ideas and make sense of experiences. She began her writing career after finishing many years of juggling busy corporate jobs and bringing up her two daughters. Her first published writing was a series of travel experience blogs called ‘Detours.’ Gwyneth’s recent writing delves into the understated and hidden, often exploring themes of identity, control and courage. The Long Fingers is her first novel.
