It contains two diaries. The first is an illustrated diary of a walking tour in North Wales undertaken  by Robert’s great-grandfather, William Ravenscroft Stephen, in 1848.  Raven, as he was known, and his two parents, Sir George Stephen and his wife Henrietta, née Ravenscroft, were all keen amateur painters. Robert has annotated this diary.   Robert’s father’s war diary is the second one.
