The Murdoch Hill vineyard stands 512m high in the cool climate Adelaide Hills near the township of Oakbank.
  • Vine Positioning: A predominately north facing slope, maximizes sunlight and facilitates ripening.
  • Soil Structure: Sandy loam over medium clay subsoils.
  • Canopy Management: Cane pruned with vertical shoot positioning (VSP) and canopy trimming.
The 2010 vintage was ideal for grape ripening and harvesting. Rainfall over winter and spring helped the vines develop a strong canopy. Apart from very high temperatures in November, the season was mild with cool nights that helped develop crisp flavours and natural acidity. To enhance those flavours the grapes were handpicked.
Whole bunches were crushed and chilled then pressed before fermentation. This occurred in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks.
Style & Tasting Notes:
It is a clear and pristine wine with bright acidity carrying all the attributes of the Hills’ style. Zesty stone fruits and gooseberry carrying through the palate to a clean, crisp mineral finish.
