ABOVE / BELOW - Photo Book by Trent Mitchell

The Artist
Trent Mitchell's work dances the line between life and art, he has an innate ability to capture the essence of his subject with an undeniably unique vision. The Australian based photographer creates powerful images delivering raw, graphic and emotive work that demands attention, no matter the subject or location. Covering an array of photographic genres Trent has collected a pool of highly respectable clients and awards world wide.

The Work In this multi-layered body of work Trent Mitchell explores the dynamic intersection between subject and time, the real and the surreal. A bold and sensual play between two spheres, Above/Below carries you to a boundary where light, wind and the sea fuse as one. Rising above, submerging below, contrasting  perspectives open a symbolically endless personal tale born from the sea.

The Book
Above/Below brings together several award winning series recognised highly in The 2012 International Photography Awards* and Oceans 2013*. This edition is made of two halves, one above the oceans horizon and the other below. Non-specific to time or place the work expresses emotive connections to the sea through energy and space. Cyclic in design, concept and content we see the ocean from unlikely perspectives and feel it through expressive forms in human interaction. Two spheres blend yet contrast in tension. Freedom, play, escape, flow and just being. A wild little journey endlessly contained in 80 pages without beginning or end.
* Contains female nudity
